Allegata alla foto vi è la copia di una lettera inviata dal collezionista a Sarah Lidsey (Christie's, New York) il 18 novembre 1999 da cui si evincono le date di permanenza dell'opera in collezione privata e in cui si accenna ad una precedente corrispondenza intercorsa tra il collezionista ed E. Fahy.
Sul verso della foto INVN 408382 E. Fahy annota: "Letizia Treves 5 May '99 "The owner's father bought it in the 1930's here in England". I wrote, 21 May, "cleanes at Fogg in 1941. Then belonged to Roland Gray [...]" But Letizia says it is never been in the States".
L'attribuzione di E. Fahy a "Tommaso" è confermata anche da una nota autografa dello studioso sul verso della foto INVN 408381 e sul ritaglio del catalogo dell'asta Christie's del 27 gennaio 2000, allegato alle foto: "Salesroom Notice: I identified it as "Tommaso".
