La foto sup 2963 documenta l'allestimento dell'opera nella prima sede del museo, presso il quartiere di Bulaq a Il Cairo. In questa sede il museo rimase dal 1857 al 1891; dal 1891 fino alla costruzione dell'edificio odierno (1902), le collezioni furono invece ospitate nel palazzo di Isma'il Pascià a Giza.
