The reclining figures on the cover are wrongly termed Alexander Severus and Mammea. The basrelief on the 4 sides are of the good period of Roman art and represent the story of Achilles. 1. Achilles discovered amongest the daughters of Lycomedes. 2. Achilles parts from Deidamia. 3. He arms himself to avenge Patroclus [...] The Barberini vas was found inside the sarcophagus".
